Creative Ways to Use a Leave-In Conditioner

Leave-in conditioners are usually sprayed or slathered on after washing and conditioning your hair. They impart superficial nourishment to give you beautiful hair throughout the day. But what most people don’t know about them is that they can be used in various other ways you’ve never imagined. In this article, we’ll explain several creative ways to use a leave-in conditioner. 

Reduce Odors Around Your Home 

Is your leave-in’s scent addictive? Spray it onto fabric-covered areas in your house to make them smell pretty. Though the smell may not last as long as a proper air freshener, it could be just what you need to elevate your mood. Be sure not to spray your leave-in conditioner onto any hard areas - it could make them slippery. 

Remove Your Eye Makeup 

The oils in most leave-in conditioners work like a charm for removing makeup. If you’re ever caught without makeup remover, you can dispense some leave-in conditioner onto a cotton ball or cloth and wipe away your makeup. Remember that not every leave-in conditioner’s ingredients should be applied to the face. But if you opt for a natural leave-in conditioner, you should be okay.  

Soften Your Cuticles as Part of a DIY Mani

Leave-in conditioner isn’t only great for light hair conditioning - it can also come in handy as a cuticle cream. Apply it to your cuticles, wait for the product to penetrate the skin, and then wash it away. You’ll quickly see that your cuticles are softer and easier to push back. 

Prevent and Remove Rust 

For those areas that seem to continually rust, your leave-in can be helpful. Apply a little bit to your sink or any other items that need it and work it in with a soft cloth. Avoid food-contact items, though. If your leave-in is super rich, you may also be able to remove existing rust versus just preventing it. Give it a try - chances are it won’t hurt. 

Make Your Metal Appliances Shine

Are the metal appliances in your home looking a little dull? Polish them up with leave-in conditioner. All you need to do is add a dime-sized amount to a dry, soft cloth and rub the metal. When you’re done with that, go in with a different soft cloth to remove any excess product and reveal a gorgeous shine.  

Bring Your Makeup Brushes Back to Life

After using your makeup brushes for a while, they may stiffen. That’s no good when they’re bound to come in contact with your delicate skin. Simply wet them down and apply some leave-in conditioner directly to the bristles to soften them right up. Leave the leave-in conditioner on them for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly.
