Hairstyles To Hide Greasy Hair

There’s a thin line between shiny hair and greasy hair. Greasy hair can make you appear unkempt - it’s not a good look. At the same time, washing your hair too often can lead to dryness and breakage. The best thing you can do when your hair looks greasy is to style it in a way that conceals the greasiness. In this article, we’ll share with you several hairstyles that can help you hide the grease and feel confident going about your day.

Messy Bun

A messy bun is the perfect hairstyle to hide oily hair. It’s wild enough to conceal the greasiness but put together enough for casual outings or errands.

First, pull all of your hair into a high ponytail on the top of your head. Then, twist the hair around in a circular motion and secure it with some pins or scrunchies. Finally, pull random sections of hair upwards to make your bun appear less neat, and pull a few strands out for some texture. To add a layer of fun, use a scrunchie!

Braids

Braid your hair up - no one will notice that your hair is greasy. One of our favorite styles is the low-key braided ponytail. Get this look by french braiding your hair down the middle and stopping at the bottom third of your head. Then add a scrunchy to keep the style secure all day.

You can do many other braided styles. Google has a ton of options for you if you’re looking for some inspiration!

Low Bun

If you need something that you can do in a pinch, try a low bun. Just gather your hair at the nape of your neck, twist and wrap to create the bun, and secure with an elastic. Leave a few strands loose for a boho look.

If your hair is super greasy, you can cover the front half of your hair with a bandana or scarf.

Ponytail

If only your roots are greasy, a ponytail is the perfect style to conceal it. Gather your hair into a high or low ponytail, secure it with a scrunchie, and you’re done! If your hair is short and you want to create the illusion of longer hair, try doing two ponytails, one right on top of the other.

Half Up, Half Down

The half-up half-down style is yet another style that’ll help when your hair is looking too oily. With the top half of your hair, you can do some braids or use scrunchies to do a couple of ponytails or buns. You can leave the hair in the back natural or add some curls for some added flair. Get creative and have fun with it.

These hairstyles are all winners, and anyone can do them from the comfort of their home. They help cover up greasy hair and will have you looking beautiful all day long. Pull one of these styles out of your back pocket whenever your hair is looking greasy - you’ll be glad you did!
